The exhibition titled ‘Alma-Tadema: At Home in Antiquity’ is the purpose of this visit. Professor Charles Martindale, husband of one of the Curators (Professor Elizabeth Prettejohn), will give a guided tour from 11:30 am. It includes 130 works of art including many of the greatest paintings of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836 – 1912). The focus is on the stunning aspect of his art: the light, spaces and artefacts of daily life in historical settings.
