Leaving the Memorial Gardens, Station Rise, York, at 9am, we will travel by coach to Scarborough, first visiting the Rotunda, which opened in 1829 and was one of the first purpose-built museums in England. Here we will be able to visit the exhibition on the discoveries made at Star Carr, a prehistoric site, dating from 9,000 BC. We will then walk the short distance to Scarborough Art Gallery, where, after time for coffee, we will have a tour with the curator of the current exhibition on Atkinson Grimshaw as well as highlights of the permanent collection. After time for lunch (not included), the coach will then pick up members at the Art Gallery at 2pm to travel to St Martin’s on the Hill for a tour with Suzanne Fagence-Cooper of the Pre- Raphaelite treasures in the Church. There will be time for tea in the new café in the Church before we leave for the return journey to York at 4pm.

Cost £37: to include coach, entry charges, fees and donations.
