6 July @ 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm£39
Leaving the Memorial Gardens at 1pm, we will travel by coach to Birdsall House, the home of Lord Middleton. Originally a late Elizabethan house it was altered and enlarged in the eighteenth-century with a substantial remodelling by Salvin in 1870-5. Despite the different architectural interventions, the house, which is set in beautiful landscaped grounds, overlooking a lake, presents a unified appearance. It contains a remarkable series of family portraits of the Willoughby family as well as some fine furniture. We will have a guided tour by Lady Cara Willoughby before having tea in the impressive 1870 dining room.
