'SOLD OUT' THE VISIT TO SUSSEX: Petworth; Parnham; Pallant House

We plan to depart on this 3-day trip from York at 8:00 am to arrive at Upton House near Banbury in time for a light lunch. There will be an introductory talk and then free time to explore the artwork collection., in particular ‘Adoration of The Magi’ by Bosch. There are masterpieces by Stubbs and fine portraits by Reynolds, Raeburn and Romney; works by Memling, van der Weyden, El Greco, a strong collection of Dutch masters and scenes by Guardi.

On Thursday there is a short drive to Parham House, possibly the most glorious of all Elizabethan country houses. After lunch in their welcoming cafe, we journey on the nearby Petworth house for an in-depth visit to the National trust’s finest collection of art. the opulent state rooms and North Gallery display world-famous paintings by turner, van Dyck, Reynolds and Blake. In the evening there is an option to visit Chichester’s Pallant House Gallery and its outstanding collection of 20th century British Art. We hope to visit Dulwich Picture Gallery on our may back to York.

Accommodation is provisionally at the Chichester Premier Inn on a B&B basis with the 1st night dinner in a nearby inn.
