Eric Milner-White was Dean of York (1941-1963) and significantly for the Friends of York Art Gallery, a founding member of this Charity and a major benefactor of art (paintings, drawings, ceramics) to York Art Gallery! He is also known for his moulding of the modern Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, and his controversial re-ordering of the medieval glass in York Minster. A working class priest, WW1 military chaplain, educationalist and a leading light in York civic society, his life and achievements 60+ years on are well worth re-visiting.

The speaker is Dr. Allen Warren, MBE, formerly Provost of Vanbrugh College, University of York (1984-2008) and university teacher.

Tickets may be obtained by sending a cheque in the sum of £5 per person (includes a glass of wine/soft drink on the evening) payable to the Sheldon Memorial Trust with a stamped addressed envelope to the Secretary, Sheldon Memorial Trust, 10 Orchard Garth, Copmanthorpe, YO23 3YP.
