The subject of the next Gallery talk, to be given by Michael Dawson, a member of the Gallery’s Visitor Experience Team, will be Rose Wylie’s painting Early Morning Memory Series No.2 : Doodle Bug (YORAG : 2001.52), which is currently on display in the Upper North gallery.To view the painting on Art UK, click here.
Michael uses Rose Wylie’s doodlebug painting to take the audience on a passionate journey through her life and contemporary culture. He explains how she takes the mundane and everyday and transforms it into magical and sophisticated artwork that thrills and resonates. Oh, he mentions the war as well!
