The next Friends’ Talk in the Gallery – Wednesday 14 January at 11.30 am – will be given by Jane Eddleston in the Burton gallery. Its subject will be “Our Lowrys”.

Lowry’s Clifford’s Tower has been a constant presence in the Burton Gallery for many years and has had a recent move over to the opposite wall as part of the Places display which shows views of York and London. This has freed up a space to put out the second Lowry from the collection – The Bandstand, Peel Park, Salford – which is a welcome addition to the space.

Alongside Lowry’s life and art, Jane – she is a member of the Galllery’s Visitors Team – will discuss the Gallery’s acquisition of the Clifford’s Tower painting as part of the Evelyn Award, and, to add a more personal touch to her talk, what her familiarity with Lowry’s work means to her.
