The Impact of Japanese Art on Western artists after 1867

Seminar by Helena Cox in the Bedingfield Room in the Bar Convent.
In the first session Helena will introduce us to Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, which were first shown to the west in the Japanese Pavilion in Paris at the Exposition Universelle in 1867. In the second session, Helena will explore with us the dramatic impact these prints had on many Western artists, especially the Impressionists.
10am arrive, tea/coffee available. Session 1: 10 30am. 11 15 am. Coffee/tea break with homemade biscuits. Session 2: 11 45- 12 30. 12 45 self -funded optional lunch at a reserved table in the Bar Convent café, please book lunch on arrival.
