Two new exhibitions, Your Gallery: Paintings Chosen by You and Views of York and Yorkshire, open on 20 August 2020. Charles Martindale has been to the Preview:
I have just been to the Art Gallery for the Preview of the two new shows. Both have strong connections with the Friends. The prints in Views of York and Yorkshire were selected by our current sponsored MA student, and a number of them conserved specially for the exhibition with grants from our funds. Five works selected from the permanent collection for Your Gallery: Paintings Chosen by You are the choice of our members, who also supplied the labels. In both exhibitions a number of works acquired with financial support from the Friends are identfied as such with our logo. It was good to see so many artworks, both familiar and unfamiliar, that have not recently been on display; congratulations to the Curator, Beatrice Bertram. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and recommend it to you warmly. And do tell and bring your friends!
