Claude Monet as artist-traveller

*** This event is fully booked *** Michael Clarke, the former Director of the Scottish National Gallery, will give a talk entitled, Claude Monet as artist-traveller, his talk will be preceded by a sparkling wine and canapé reception. This talk will serve as an introduction to the arrival of Monet’s Water-Lily Pond at York Art Gallery on May 10th. This famous painting is on loan from the National Gallery as part of the celebration to commemorate their foundation in 1824. Michael Clarke CBE was a curator in York Art Gallery, early in his career. He is one of the foremost authorities on French Art, particularly Impressionism.
