Brockfield Hall was built for Benjamin Agar by Peter Atkinson, a junior partner of John Carr. It is owned by Charlie and Hatta Wood, who have recently undertaken a major restoration with the aim of bringing the house back to its original 1804 design, but at the same time making it a home suitable for family life in the 21st century. The Historic Houses Association has just given Brockfield the HH Restoration Award 2023. Apart from the interest of the architectural interior, the house also contains one of England’s largest collections of paintings by the Staithes Group of Artists which we will see on our tour. The house is 6 miles from York, and is situated between the A 166 and the A64. Driving instructions will be given after booking.
